An A+ Day

Standard

Today was really great! Here are the 5 top reasons for that:
1. Our penpal letters from Canada came in this week and we will get them tomorrow!

2. We had handwork class and, although I CANNOT sew, I got a lot more done on my vest I’m making!

3.Dinner was fabulous! We had a fry of potatoes and a few different meats. Plua ketchup on top.Yum!

4. When Anita was playing an animated game of chess on the computer, Mika imitated the sounds! It was hilarious!

5. Last but CERTAINLY NOT least, I finally got in touch with a friend I haven’t talked to since we moved. She FINALLY got an email address!!!!!

So yes, although it was -30 celsius, -22 fahrenheit, the days here can be just splendid. Glorious indeed!

    • Your second guess was correct. We got the penpal letters btw, and Saska was laughing out loud. The sentences were missing some words here and there, but he understood everything except one sentence. He said that it’s fine with him if Markus decides to write in english.

      • HA!!!! Tell me which sentence he couldn’t understand, I’ll probably be able to translate it.

  1. AND MARKUS IS SO UPSET ABOUT HOW HE WASN’T ABLE TO WRITE IN FINNISH THAT HE SAYS HE’S NOT GONNA DO THE (DUMB) PEN-PAL LETTERS.

  2. Hey, Jenna! Tell Markus that he SHOULD keep trying! After all – that’s how you learn another language – by learning from your mistakes! 🙂
When I was about 11 I had a penpal in the States, and she wrote something about her dad being sick – to which I answered “oh, it’s SO BORING to hear your dad is sick!” And OF COURSE she got really offended – and was really hurt. I realised my mistake, and had to explain in a looong letter that I didn’t mean that it was BORING, but SAD!!! The Swedish word for sad is “trÃ¥kigt” – but trÃ¥kigt also means boring! So, I used the wrong English word, and almost spoiled a great friendship. But, I kept trying! And now… well, I’m glad to speak 3 different languages, because I didn’t give up trying! 🙂
So, GOOD LUCK, all of you – learning Finn is HARD!! I’m proud of you all for doing such a good job! 🙂
Oh, and I’m Enya’s aunt and godmother, living waaaay up north in Norway. 🙂

    • Thanks Sofia! Actually, that’s a funny story. I’m sure Markus was just ‘blowing off some steam’. Right now he’s just excited about getting another letter from Saska.
Enya has told me so much about you. I beleive she said that you bought her an amazing digital camera? Something like that. I’ve seen how cold you said it was. Something like 31 degrees… That is pretty darn cold. Thankfully it dousn’t get that cold here. The coldest it has been this winter was 24 degrees.

      OH AND ENYA.
Don’t think I’m gonna give up about you not sending me e-mails!!!
      🙂

  3. Hi girls! 🙂
That’s right, Jenna – I got her a camera, as a belated b-day&welcome to Europe-present. Now… I dont do too fancy gifts EVERY year, and – hehe – I STILL haven’t mailed off Enya’s Christmas gift.
Sorry, Enya… I’ll get to it!! 😀 You’ll have it BEFORE Easter – LOL! 😉

Yup, sure is cold where I live – as far north one can get in Norway, almost. 🙂
You should come visit us someday, Jenna! And, Enya too of course, but I guess that will happen pretty soon, since we now live so “close”. 😉

  4. Yeah if you call 500 to a thousand(? Im not sure really, the distance) ‘Close.
🙂 OOOOH I got a post card from Anita!!!!!
    🙂

Ow my finger hurts. (Basket-ball) 😦 Enya, questions… answer the questions….
    Okay, fine, I give up.

    • Do you think you could come here for my birthday instead of in the summer? PLEEZ? The prices would be lower, you could come with mummi and pappa or something, and, my mom said that IF you could figure that out somehow to come for my birthday, (which I highly doubt), we could work our schedule around it. You could Start March Break a week early and end it a week later. Both of us would miss what, 2 or 3 weeks of school in our whole life?! O, PLEEZ! I wish you could come here for my B-day! It would be cheaper too! 🙂 😀

      • Sorrrrryyyy, I don’t think it’s gonna work out. Mummi and Pappa arent going in March. At least, I dont think they are. (Are they?) I knoooow it would be cheaper, but it’s, like, the only good time for me to go. Hey, maybe I’ll call you or something….

  5. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
    Hee-hee.
